Baseplates
The original baseplate 2000 pins (50x40). An arrow is shown on the back of the baseplate. This arrow indicates the orientation of the baseplate and the pixel art piece. It is important that the direction of the arrow always points in the same direction. For example always up or always to the right.

Pixelsquares

Pixelhobby® pixelsquares contain 140 pixels. The pixelsquares are made of sustainable Bio-plastic, which makes your hobby not only fun but also good for the environment. Pixelsquares are currently available in more than 300 colours.

Dovetails

There are 4 notches on the back of the base plate. These notches are made for the dovetail connectors. With these dovetails you can connect the base plates together.

Optional: Frame
Do you want to finish your Pixelhobby artwork with a beautiful frame? The order number of the correct frame can be found on the first page of the pattern, the material list. For example 2x2P or 4x5L.

How does a symbol
pattern work?

If you choose a pixelhobby project with a symbol pattern, you will see that the pattern is split into parts.  Each pattern part contains 4 symbols with numbers, which represent one specific color.

The symbols refer to the color number that can be found on the back of the pixel squares. Use the color number that corresponds to the number behind/before the symbol. The same symbols represent a different color number on each pattern part.

You can slide the transparent baseplate over the pattern part, so you see exactly where each Pixel color can be placed, you don't have to count.

Make sure the arrow on the back of the baseplate always points in the same direction (for the orientation).

Place the pixels on the pins of the baseplates with a tweezer or your vingers and they're fixed right away, no glue or iron is needed.

When the pattern part is ready, you can slide the baseplate onto the next pattern part.
You can repeat these steps until the baseplate is completely full. Then you can start on the next baseplate, and so on. The pattern indicates which pattern part belongs to which baseplate.

Is the project ready? Then you can connect the baseplates together with dovetails and it’s ready to frame it!

How does a color pattern work?

When you work with smaller Pixelhobby sets you use a  "color pattern" as your guide. Slide the transparent baseplate over the color pattern, and you can see where to place each pixel color. If you are working with a non-transparent baseplate or medallion you can count out the pattern.

Applying the pixels is simple! Take one pixel from your pixel square and place the pixel onto the pins of the baseplate. No glue, ironing or varnish is required to keep the pixels in place! If you make a mistake do not worry you can still take the pixel out. You can use tweezers to do so.
